On a winter holiday in St. Anton, there’s a fair bit you shouldn’t miss – like the MONT Spa wellness area at the Arlmont Hotel. We reveal the other 6 spots here

It’s a similar story with a few spots in St. Anton am Arlberg. Even without discovering them, a stay in this winter paradise is spectacular and full of adventure. But it’s only when you engage with a few select places that the moment of enjoyment becomes truly incomparable. Because anyone in search of the extraordinary will definitely find it in St. Anton am Arlberg, on and off the slopes!

1. Valluga panorama: casting an eagle eye over the Arlberg

On fine days, the Valluga, the highest peak in the Arlberg region, guarantees a view of superlatives. From here, a breathtaking panorama over the tripoint of Switzerland, Italy and Austria opens up – and, strictly speaking, Liechtenstein and Germany are also within sight. On clear days, you can even make out the deep blue of Lake Constance. Ski equipment isn’t strictly necessary – walkers too can venture on this trip into high-alpine terrain. The highlight is easy to reach: the Galzigbahn takes you straight from the village centre in St. Anton up to the peak of the same name, where you change onto the Vallugabahn. And anyone wanting to get even closer to the sky can take a further small gondola up to 2.811 metres above sea level. A descent from there, however, is only possible with a ski guide! There is no official run, only open, steep terrain with avalanche risk.

2. Tobogganing Fun: Swooshing down into the valley and the huts

Fast-paced fun on runners and round the bends? The 4.3 km long, illuminated toboggan run from the Gampen down into the valley makes it possible. Towards the end of the run, it’s worth stopping off at the Rodelalm. By the crackling fire, the hot chocolate simply tastes best! Anyone needing a bite to eat right at the start of the wild ride is in the right place at the Gampenrestaurant. It’s especially worth calling in on Tuesdays and Thursdays, when there’s a toboggan evening with live music. It doesn’t get much more rustic than that – except, of course, for the Sunday morning get-together! At the cosy bar or on a lounger on what is probably the largest sun terrace on the Arlberg, you can recharge your batteries perfectly at the Gampenrestaurant. Two restaurants take care of dumpling variations, Tyrolean Gröstl, Kaiserschmarrn and much more. Both the Nassereinbahn, right by Hotel Arlmont, and the Gampenbahn in the village centre lead straight to indulgence.

3. Freestyle Park: Where coolness meets skill in St. Anton

Ride the Rendl cable car, newly built in 2009, from the centre of St. Anton and you’ll reach a jewel of the freestyle scene: STANTON Park, a snowpark whose size will probably surprise you at first. Courage and a bit of craziness are definitely required for the huge kickers, boxes and rails. But everyone started small once! And once you’ve caught the bug, the park’s own lift makes virtually unlimited runs possible. Anyone who’d rather let the professionals go first has the perfect view of the daring freestylers’ tricks from the Rendl Beach Bar.

4. Skishow Schneetreiben: It's showtime, thrills included

Although you can properly unwind with a punch or mulled wine, another spot in St. Anton delivers plenty of amazement and excitement. In the 2001 World Championship stadium, ski schools, the Arlberg mountain railways and tourism associations put on the thrilling ski show "Schneetreiben – The Snow Must Go On". It presents a multimedia journey through the history of skiing on the Arlberg. The piste becomes an oversized screen. The show can be enjoyed until the end of March, every Wednesday at 9pm, in the Karl Schranz finish-line stadium. Admission is free and there are free night buses.

5. arl.park: A place that gives sports enthusiasts a real lift

A winter holiday can be a little out of the ordinary too – which is probably what the people behind arl.park thought as well. The newly opened Lindoor trampoline hall in St. Anton am Arlberg invites you to some real high jinks in the air! On 13 trampoline courts, a large air cushion and a freefall tower, big and small alike can really let off steam. Where? At the arl.rock sports and climbing centre, right next to the railway station.

6. A stroll through the village: feel the atmosphere of this world-famous village

If you find yourself in the world-renowned cradle of alpine skiing, it's naturally also worth discovering the unique flair of St. Anton. The best way to do that is with a stroll through the pedestrian zone. Trendy fashion boutiques line up alongside impressive sports shops and inviting cafés. From window shopping to buying the latest ski equipment, anything is possible. To get back to the Hotel Arlmont, you can either walk through the centre past the shops, or take the WM-Meile, a traffic-free path running along the old railway line.

7. MONT SPA: An oasis you'll never want to leave

Sometimes you need time out from it all, a moment to breathe and switch off. To find places in St. Anton am Arlberg where this succeeds, there's no need to leave Hotel Arlmont at all. On the three levels of the hotel's own spa area MONT SPA alone, the choices range from fitness and yoga to sauna, steam bath, experience shower and massages, right through to panoramic relaxation areas and, of course, the remarkable RoofTop Pool. This makes deep relaxation at Hotel Arlmont effortless!
